Understand that The New Testament believers were sent ones. As believers today we must embrace the
pattern to love “SENT”. The early
believers did not go out to glorify their building/church, but to take what
Jesus ministered the most, which was the Kingdom of God (over 100 times He made
reference in the scripture to it) and teach the Kingdom to people in word and
deed. You see, they operated with a
different understanding than we do today. They understood the workings of an ekklesia as we only have the understanding
of the constructs of a church. In the
passage above in the original Hebrew text Jesus never said the word
“church”. The word ekklesia was
translated in the English language as the word church.
Let me bring us into remembrance of this key discovery: Jesus chose the Ekklesia model over the
Temple or the Synagogue. The why of that
is because it could succeed everywhere.
Looking at the strategy of Jesus: “Jesus chose an agency better
suited to succeed everywhere—not just in Israel, where He ministered, but also
in the pagan societies where He would send His disciples. His ultimate objective was not to produce or
expand religious institutions. It was to
see nations discipled by inserting the leaven of His Kingdom into their social
fiber through His ekklesia.” This
strategy is not built on events, its built on lifestyles that reflect the
manner by which Jesus and His team influenced culture.
