It is Ekklesian (a secular word that
Jesus took from the Greek and Roman cultures which had been used for several
hundreds of years by them, and not in a religious context).
The Apostolic Spirit again is
Ekklesian, which is not the same thinking as a church, which the word itself
carries the connotation of a stoic, static -pews, bookboard, steeple, stained
glass windows, gathering place.
One could contrast the two (Church and
Ekklesia) as one being a lake (Church) versus the other as a flowing river
(Ekklesia). While the building is necessary it was never the intent of Jesus
that it would be the conduit to advance the Kingdom but its greatest function
when understood is to Train and equip the believers to live, think, and do life
in an apostolic spirit.
He never said I will build my church,
my temple, my synagogue, but he said I will build my Ekklesia!
